GRADE R

GRADE R

We cultivate children with a passion and thirst for knowledge.

Grade R is undoubtedly the first year of a child’s life when they begin to engage in a more structured program, but we still strive to make it as enjoyable and exciting as possible.

The primary aim of Grade R is to provide preschoolers with comprehensive development opportunities, addressing their social, emotional and cognitive facets. These foundational years serve as a vital preparation for their transition to Grade 1.

A distinctive feature of Grade R is the early identification of learners who may have learning difficulties or developmental delays. This proactive approach allows us to involve relevant therapists and specialists timeously, offering the necessary support and enhancing the preschoolers’ prospects of success in the future.

The curriculum in grade R encompasses three core subjects: Afrikaans as the Home Language, Mathematics and Life Skills. Additionally, English is introduced informally, exposing learners to a second language, which enriches their language skills.

Our commitment is to cultivate an environment where preschoolers not only thrive and enjoy themselves but also develop essential life skills and a passion for learning. These formative years of education play a crucial role in shaping each child’s future, and we are honoured to be part of this significant journey.

Our learners receive a weekly lesson from a professional Child Kinesiologist, focusing on gross motor development at age-appropriate levels. They also receive coaching in ball skills and cricket (term 1 & 4) as well as hockey, netball and rugby (term 2 & 3).

“Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.”
